Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU)
PPSU is an amorphous thermoplastic. The material combines a high melting temperature with a rather low water absorption. It also has better impact strength and chemical resistance than PSU and PES from the polysulfone group.
In addition to these properties, PPSU exhibits significantly better hot steam sterilizability and resistance to cleaning agents and disinfectants than the other representatives of this class of plastics.
Properties:
- high service temperature (180 °C)
- good chemical resistance
- excellent hydrolysis resistance (suitable for repeated steam sterilization)
- high stiffness over a wide temperature range
- very high impact strength
- high dimensional stability
- very good resistance to high-energy radiation (gamma and X-rays)
- good electrical insulation properties
- favorable dielectric behavior
Applications:
- Medical Technology
- Chemical Plant Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Precision Mechanics
- Vacuum Technology
- Automotive Industry
- Food Technology
