Polyoxymethylene (POM)

Polyoxymethylene is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic with high strength and stiffness. The polymer has good sliding properties and wear resistance as well as low moisture absorption. The good dimensional stability and particularly good fatigue strength as well as excellent machinability make POM a versatile construction material, even for complex components.

A distinction is made between homopolymers (POM-H) and copolymers (POM-C). Due to their higher crystallinity, homopolymers have a slightly higher density, hardness and strength. The copolymers, on the other hand, have a higher impact strength, greater abrasion resistance and better thermal and chemical resistance.

POM-C

This copolymer acetal is a engineering plastic developed for a wide range of universal applications in many different industries. Key performance characteristics of the unmodified POM copolymer include high mechanical strength and stiffness, excellent wear resistance, low moisture absorption and excellent dimensional stability. It offers a high degree of crystallization and excellent toughness (even at low temperatures), as well as good chemical resistance.
Colors: natural, black / improved UV resistance, blue / for food applications


POM-C ELS black

A POM-C modified with special conductive carbon black. The addition of carbon black results in a very good electrical conductivity of the material. The other known properties of POM-C are retained.


POM-C ESD natural

A POM-C modified with special permanent antistatic agent. By adding the antistatic agent, a defined conductivity in the antistatic range is achieved. Due to the addition, however, one must assume that the material has a lower strength and hardness.


POM-C GF25

This is a type reinforced with 25 % glass fibers. The glass fiber content increases the mechanical strength, wear resistance and dimensional stability. It is therefore ideally suited for components that are exposed to high static loads over long periods of time and at high temperatures.  This material is less suitable for sliding applications due to its glass fiber content.


POM-C MT

The POM-C MT materials, which can be used in medical technology, meet the requirements of physiological harmlessness. For these materials, special raw materials with corresponding approvals are used, which are processed under consideration of product quality and medical-technical aspects. The semi-finished products are additionally tested for biocompatibility in regular cycles. POM-C MT is available in various colors and dimensions.


POM-C ID blue

The inductively detectable POM-C is provided with a metal detectable filler and thus offers excellent protection in food environments where metal detectors are used to check for unwanted foreign objects.


POM-H

This homopolymer acetal is characterized by outstanding sliding properties and good wear resistance. In contrast to POM-C, POM-H has a slightly higher density, hardness and strength due to its higher degree of crystallization. Furthermore, POM-H offers excellent electrical insulation properties and can be machined very well.


POM-H AF natural

POM homopolymer with special PTFE fibers to optimize the sliding friction behavior. The fibers are homogeneously distributed in the material and lead to an improvement of the sliding friction coefficient and abrasion resistance with a very low susceptibility to stick-slip effects.
