Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)
PBT is a thermoplastic semi-crystalline plastic of the polyester family. It is distinguished by its high strength, rigidity and dimensional stability under the influence of heat as well as by its very high dimensional stability and low tendency to creep. PBT also has very good friction and wear properties. Compared to PET, PBT has better impact strength, especially in the cold.
Properties:
- high strength and stiffness
- very dimensionally stable
- low creep tendency
- very good friction and wear resistance
- good impact strength
- very low thermal expansion
- good chemical resistance against acids
- very good electrical properties
- very low water absorption
- easy to bond
Application:
- Transport and conveyor technology
- Mechanical Engineering
- Automotive Industry
- Precision Mechanics
- Pump body
- Housing parts
- Gears
- Insulating parts in electrical engineering
PBT GF 30 natural
Glass-filled PBT GF 30 is characterized by very high rigidity, high mechanical strength, high creep resistance and very good dimensional stability. It can help to meet precision requirements for components with tight tolerances. These material properties make the glass-filled polyester suitable for components that are exposed to high static loads over long periods of time and at high temperatures. However, since glass fibers can lead to considerable abrasion on contact surfaces in some cases, PBT GF 30 is less suitable for sliding applications.
