Polyamide imide (PAI)
PAI is an amorphous, thermoplastic high-performance polymer that is characterized by its high temperature resistance up to 270°C. High toughness, stiffness and creep resistance combined with low thermal expansion ensure high mechanical strength and dimensionally stable components.
Properties:
- thermally resilient from the cryogenic range up to 270°C
- very stiff, high strength and at the same time tough
- high long-term stability and high fatigue strength
- extremely high creep resistance
- good chemical resistance to many conventional solvents and lubricants, fuels and acids
- high resistance to high-energy radiation
- sensitive to hydrolysis at high temperatures
- self-extinguishing according to UL 94V-0
Application:
- Aerospace technology
- Cryogenics
- Chemical Plant Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Nuclear and vacuum technology
